Plagiarism Policy

JKSI maintains a zero-tolerance policy against plagiarism and upholds the highest standards of academic integrity. All submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished work free from plagiarism, including AI-generated text misuse, self-plagiarism (text recycling), data fabrication, and copyright infringement.

Plagiarism Screening

All submitted manuscripts must represent original work and be free from any form of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, data fabrication, and copyright infringement. Authors are required to conduct similarity checks using Turnitin or iThenticate software before submission. The journal enforces a maximum similarity threshold of 30% overall, with no single source exceeding 5% similarity. References and properly attributed quotations are excluded from these calculations.

Editorial Review Process

The JKSI editorial team conducts additional screening using iThenticate and AI detection tools such as GPTZero to identify issues, including unattributed text, unverified AI-generated content, and duplicated figures or tables. Manuscripts showing signs of policy violations will be rejected or returned for revision.

Permitted AI Use
JKSI acknowledges that AI technology can be a legitimate writing assistant when used appropriately. Authors may utilize AI for:

  1. Language Editing
  2. Readability enhancement
  3. Idea organization

However, such use requires authors to:

  1. Transparently disclose AI usage in the Acknowledgments section
  2. Manually verify all facts, references, and data
  3. Assume full responsibility for the accuracy of AI-edited content

Prohibited AI Practices
JKSI strictly prohibits:

  1. Submission of entirely or predominantly AI-generated manuscripts
  2. Using AI to create false data, references, or conclusions
  3. Employing AI to paraphrase plagiarized content to evade detection

Consequences for Violations

Manuscripts violating these policies will be rejected. Serious offenses may result in a three-year submission ban for the author(s). The article will be retracted with an official notice for violations discovered post-publication.

Author Guidelines
Authors using AI tools must include the following statement in the Credit Author Statement:

"The authors utilized [AI tool name] for [purpose] during manuscript preparation. The authors verified all outputs."

Penulis menggunakan [nama alat AI] untuk [tujuan penggunaan] selama persiapan naskah. Semua output telah diverifikasi oleh penulis."

Additionally, authors must be prepared to provide pre-AI drafts upon editorial request.

This policy aligns with ARJUNA standards and COPE guidelines on AI-generated content while upholding the credibility of nursing scholarship in the digital age. JKSI remains committed to promoting ethical and responsible writing practices amidst technological advancements.
