Copyright Notice

At Jurnal Keperawatan Suaka Insan (JKSI), we believe in the broad dissemination of nursing knowledge while ensuring authors retain control over their intellectual property. Therefore, our copyright and licensing policy is structured as follows:

Author Copyright Retention: Authors who publish with JKSI retain the full copyright to their scholarly work without restrictions. Ownership of the intellectual property remains with the author(s).

Grant of First Publication Rights: By submitting a manuscript for consideration, authors agree to grant JKSI the exclusive right of first publication. This means that upon acceptance, JKSI will be the first venue to formally publish the article's peer-reviewed, edited, and formatted version.

Creative Commons Licensing: Concurrently granting the first publication right, the work will be licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0) upon publication. This specific license is chosen to maximize the openness and reusability of the research published in JKSI. The CC BY 4.0 license explicitly allows others to:

  • Share: Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
  • Adapt: Remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.

Attribution Requirement: A fundamental condition of the CC BY 4.0 license is proper attribution. Anyone reusing the work must give appropriate credit to the original author(s), provide a link to the license (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/), indicate if changes were made, and cite the original publication in Jurnal Keperawatan Suaka Insan (JKSI). This ensures the authors' contribution is acknowledged and directs readers back to the definitive version published in our journal.

Author Self-Archiving and Open Access: JKSI strongly supports the principles of Open Access and encourages authors to maximize the visibility and impact of their research. Authors are expressly permitted, indeed encouraged, to deposit versions of their work in institutional repositories, subject-specific archives (like PubMed Central, if applicable), or on their personal or institutional websites. This permission applies:

  • Before submission (Preprints): Authors may share preprint versions of their manuscripts before submission or during the peer-review process on recognized preprint servers.
  • After acceptance (Postprints/Accepted Manuscripts): Following acceptance for publication, authors may deposit the final accepted manuscript (after peer review but before JKSI's copyediting and formatting).
  • After publication (Version of Record): Authors may deposit the final published version (the PDF formatted by JKSI), often referred to as the Version of Record, once available online.

When self-archiving, authors should always include a citation and, ideally, a link (DOI) to the final published article in JKSI. Engaging in self-archiving practices can foster productive scholarly exchange, potentially leading to earlier and increased citation rates, thereby enhancing the reach and influence of the published research, consistent with the well-documented benefits of Open Access initiatives.

This policy aims to provide a clear framework that respects author rights, facilitates wide dissemination through open licensing, and encourages practices that enhance research visibility and impact within the nursing community and beyond.
